Zahra Austin

Zahra Austin is a first-year Health Sciences student at the University of Ottawa with a deep passion for social change, youth advocacy, and justice. As the Vice-President of social media for Discoveries Without Boundaries (DWB), she is committed to using digital platforms to amplify voices, foster collaboration, and inspire the next generation of healthcare innovators. With a strong background in marketing, education, and leadership, Zahra brings expertise in content creation, branding, and strategic communication to expand DWB’s reach and impact.

Through DWB, Zahra is dedicated to inspiring curiosity, encouraging creativity, and equipping students with the skills they need to make a lasting impact in healthcare innovation. She believes that storytelling and digital engagement are powerful tools for advocacy and is eager to use them to strengthen DWB’s mission of interdisciplinary collaboration, research, and real-world applications. By fostering a community of passionate learners, problem-solvers, and leaders, Zahra hopes to contribute to solutions that drive progress and improve lives across campus!

Outside of DWB, Zahra is actively involved in community service, mentorship, and initiatives that promote equity and accessibility. She is driven by the belief that true leadership comes from empowering others, challenging obstacles, and taking action to create a more inclusive and just society.
